Yarn industry news:
Spinrite (company in Canada) recently bought Red Heart. They now own half the world: Red Heart, Caron, Lily Sugar’n Cream, Yarnspirations, Bernat, Patons, Phentex (https://www.spinriteyarns.com/brand/phentex) and wonderart (for latch hooking).
The parent company of the Interweave magazines (and much more) went bankrupt and sold itself off in bits and pieces. Eleven of the magazines (including the Interweaves) went to Macanta, owned by one Terence M. (Terry) O’Toole and his family.
The name is Irish meaning (as best Renata could figure out) mild, meek, gentle. They also have a philanthropic arm so maybe the name is more appropriate for that.
Let’s hope there’s a yarn fanatic in the family who’ll keep the magazines going with their previous high standards. Let’s especially hope they’ll still hire designers like Nirmal.
