Local genealogist Barbara Scanlon shares her experience and expertise in researching Irish ancestry through a series of interesting and informative workshops, along with individual, one-on-one research sessions.

Genealogy Workshops & Sessions

Workshop topics focus on different aspects of genealogy research. Individual sessions benefit those who are just beginning their search. Those who have their search underway but would like information on getting to the next level will also benefit from a one-on-one session!

The Irish Center has WiFi. Participants are welcome to bring laptops, although computers are not required.

KCIC Members: FREE
Non-Members: $10

One-on-One Session Costs

KCIC Members: 1 FREE session per year
Non-Members: $50 donation to the Center for the session

Barbara gives genealogy workshops and provides one-on-one genealogy sessions. A member of the National Genealogy Society, 2008 – present, Barbara has been studying Irish Genealogy at the International Society for British genealogy and Family History in Salt Lake City since 2010. Barbara also attended the Ancestral Connections Irish Genealogy Week-long conference at University College Cork in 2014 & 2016. A founding member of the Brookside Irish Fest, Barbara currently co-chairs the Genealogy area of the Kansas City Irish Festival and is Board Emeritus for the KCIC.
